Hanging 30x30 Canvas Art Easily - Step-by-Step Guide

Need to hang your new 30” x 30” canvas? Get your art on the wall in just minutes! Follow this comprehensive, step-by-step guide to hanging 30x30 canvases —whether art or prints — and transform your living space in minutes.

Measure the Artwork and Mark the Wall (use pencil)

Before you start, it’s a good idea to measure the artwork and determine where it should go on the wall.

POSITION IT

Position the canvas so that it’s seamless with other art pieces in the room or centered according to overall design.

Once you find your desired layout, use a leveler and pencil to mark where each nail should go. This will save time when hanging your canvas art - just find the right spot and get started!

NAIL IT

From there, you can use two sawtooth hangers or hammer two nails into the wall that are about one-third of an inch apart for better weight distribution.

Carefully nail the sawtooth hangers into the wall at each marked spot and hang your artwork on top! You can then step back and enjoy your newly hung 30” x 30” canvas art.

OTHER OPTIONS: Hang 30x30 canvas without nails

Alternatively, you can securely hang your 30x30 canvas art without the use of any nails or hooks.

Double-sided adhesive mounting strips are your answer. These small sticky foam pads are easy to install and remove.

To begin, select the proper size of strip for the frame’s weight.

Then, separate the two foam halves of the foam strip and press them against your wall and back frame respectively.

After both halves adhere firmly to their respective sections, join them together. You can then hang the artwork from the attached mounting strip with ease!

Additionally, it is beneficial to keep accurate measurements when hanging your new piece of art.

HANGING TIP: If you want the artwork to hang exactly in a certain position, use a spirit level and tape measure to mark the wall’s position accurately. This will help make sure you hang it straight and level every time.

DECOR TIP: When designing your interior decor, use a photoshop program or graph paper model to visualize where each artwork and décor item will be placed before actually hanging them up on the wall. This will save you the trouble of finding out that pieces are spaced too far apart or too close together after they’ve already been hung up and you find them potentially difficult to move.

CHOOSE THE CORRECT NAIL/HOOK: Make sure to always use the right color nail and size depending on the weight of your canvas. Larger canvases and wood panels can be quite heavier, so by certain to anchor your hook first. Ensure that you are using wall anchors if mounting into drywall, or masonry/concrete screws if hanging out of brick or mortar.

HEAVY-DUTY HARDWARE MAY BE REQUIRED: You may also want to consider using heavy duty hanging hardware like hooks or d-rings, which will help support heavier artwork. It’s recommended to always check to if the wall anchor or hook should have a rated weight capacity.

Canvas art is a beautiful and eye-catching wall decoration, but getting it up on the wall can be tricky if you don’t know how. Before you start, make sure your wall is suited for hanging canvas.

If you’re using plasterboard or drywall then an anchor screw should do the trick; however, make sure to locate studs in the wall first before deciding where to install the hook.

IMPORTANT: Use a pencil and level to properly mark its position before drilling a hole—keeping that measurement in mind—and installing the pre-determined hardware.
